Slocum Road

The goal for this residential project was to design an intimate, relaxed space for family gatherings and entertaining. In a relatively small site, we created a garden with three separate but integrated living spaces all built for different uses. A rustic stone camp fire is the centerpiece of the garden. Two stone blocks on either side of the fire function as wood storage and seating. The camp fire and a slight level change define the next spaces, a lounging and seating area, and an upper dining space located near the kitchen. An extra large stone spa has been set off the lounge area close to the house and is surrounded with natural plantings that invoke a coastal New England feel and provide privacy and interest throughout the year. A dark green custom fence acts as a backdrop to a row of white birch creating a dramatic effect, and provides privacy from neighboring properties.
